The Importance of a Pool Cue Stick in Snooker and Pool Billiards

A pool cue is a small, but crucial piece of sporting equipment important to the games of snooker, pool and even carom billiard. A pool cue stick, or cue stick as it is sometimes referred to, is a long piece of plastic or metal which is used for striking a cueball. Cues are usually tapered ends, usually about 17 inches long, and generally between 12 and 18 ounces, with pros gravitating towards a 18-ounce standard. When first getting started in any form of cue sports like billiards or snooker, you’ll want to make sure that you have a good quality cue stick in order to start out.

When choosing a pool cue stick, remember that a good stick should be long enough so that you can reach over and get at the ball when it is striking it on the table. Another key feature of a good pool cue is that it has a high back. A high back prevents your shoulder from being bent too much when striking the cue ball, which is extremely important in snooker and pool. As far as the material the cue stick is made from is concerned to make sure that it is not too soft or too hard. Most pool cues made of steel or aluminum, however, are softer than some made of wood. If you are looking for a cue stick with a very high back then it might be advisable to purchase a cue stick made of more expensive wood.

Pool cue sticks are available in all sorts of styles, shapes, designs and weights. You will also find that many pool cue sticks today come with a variety of different balls, including traditional balls and novelty balls. Another great thing about pool cue sticks is that they can now come in a wide variety of colors as well. Pool cue sticks are usually sold either in standard (standard cue stick) or double-sided (double sided cue stick). Some pool cue sticks come with built-in weight, which allows them to be used as a snooker or pool cue while others need to be attached by means of a weight attached to a cue stick rod. Whatever cue stick you choose, remember to buy a quality one in order to avoid buying a bad quality one that you will soon regret.
